Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
Yes! I am in network with several insurance companies. I also offer a self pay rate if you are out of network, or I can provide you with a super bill for you to give your insurance company for reimbursement.
What type of therapy do you offer?
I offer individual therapy. I work from a person centered and strengths based point of view. I am what is often described as an “eclectic” therapist, meaning I work with several orientations and modalities to inform my style of therapy. I am trained in EMDR and expressive arts therapy, and I draw from several approaches, such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and solution focused therapy. When working with neurodivergent folks, I always use a neuro affirming lens and when working with individuals who have experienced trauma, I always use a trauma informed approach.
How long will I be in therapy?
The short answer is: it depends on the person and the goals. People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. I tend to err on the side of working with people until we meet goals or they don’t need me anymore, and then we can make a plan for terminating the therapy relationship. But in the meantime, I can guarantee I will work hard for you and for as long as you need me. If you schedule allows, typically we start working together once a week and then taper off as we are able to or as needed.
Is therapy right for me?
I believe everyone could benefit from therapy at some point in life. Life can bring about unexpected challenges, losses, and transitions - which might be the perfect time to seek the care of a supportive therapist. You may also have a lifelong condition impacting your mental health, which may mean a solid professional in your corner could be helpful throughout life.
Do you have experience with clients like me?
I have been a licensed clinician for 10 years. I have been working in mental health for 15 years. I have extensive experience working with neurodivergence, Autism, anxiety, and trauma. I also have specific experience working in military communities. I enjoy working with kids, teens, and adults. I genuinely enjoy what I do and partnering with people to help them as they reach goals and healing. I am confident in what I do, and I am humble enough to know when I am out of my depth and what my expertise is NOT in. With that, I have learned not every therapist is a good fit for everyone. If for some reason I am not the therapist for you or we are not a good fit, I can tolerate that feedback and we can collaborate to find the right therapist for you.
How confidential is my information?
I see the therapy relationship as sacred and private. If for any reason our paths do cross, the onus of responsibility to keep our work private falls on me - and I will do all that I can to protect your information and privacy. Additionally, HIPAA mandates that what you say and the work we do stays between you and I. My electronic health record system, TherapyNotes, is certified HIPAA compliant and has an infrastructure that is data encrypted.
